Founded in 1992, Oncotest has been quickly recognized internationally for its expertise in anticancer drug evaluation. For compound testing we use a unique collection of more than 200 primary patient derived tumors that predict correctly drug sensitivity and resistance of patients in the clinic. These xenografts have been transplanted directly from patients into mice and are kept at low passage numbers. The xenografts retain most of the characteristics of the parental patient tumors including histology and sensitivity to anticancer drugs and recapitulate the response of the donor patient to standard anticancer drugs in >90% of the cases.

Our tumor collection encloses for all in vivo tumors an in vitro counterpart (cell line or clonogenic assay), which is completed by diverse analyses of expression and chemosensitivity data. This allows a very focused and stepwise in vitro / in vivo approach. Our testing systems include in vitro / in vivo screens on permanent tumor cell lines (monolayer assay) or human xenografts (clonogenic assay and in vivo studies). Target oriented approaches (Gene Chips, Tissue Micro Arrays, Cytometry) and mechanism of action studies (Compare analyses).
