Managing Director

Prof. Dr. Fiebig is the founder and CEO of ONCOTEST, as well as an appointed professor of internal medicine and hematology at the medical department of the University of Freiburg.
Prior to founding ONCOTEST, he served as Deputy Director  of the Clinic for Tumor Biology at the University of Freiburg, as a cancer expert at the NCI, Division of Cancer Treatment in Frederick, MD, USA, as senior physician at the Medical Clinic of the University of Freiburg with an emphasis on clinical phase I and II studies in oncology and hematology, and as physician at the Medical Clinic at the University of Freiburg. He is author and coauthor of about 245 scientific publications and received his postgraduate training at the German Cancer Research Centre (DKFZ) in Heidelberg and is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology.

Tom Metcalfe joined Oncotest GmbH on Sept. 1 2011, where he has taken up the role of managing director. Prior to this appointment Tom spent 18 years working for F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. in a variety of functions. He joined Roche’s Diagnostics business in 1993 and became head of reagent marketing for the Clinical Chemistry business in 1996. In 1998 he was appointed Global Head of Marketing for Roche’s Research Biochemicals (now Applied Sciences) business. In 2001 he moved to California to join Roche Molecular Diagnostics where he was responsible for Business Development and the Clinical Genomics business. In 2004 Tom joined Roche Pharma as Global Head of the Roche Biomarker Program, a joint program between Roche’s Pharma and Diagnostics divisions, and later, from 2007 onwards he became Head of Roche’s Personalised Healthcare Portfolio. In 2010 Tom joined the Translational Research Sciences group of Roche’s Pharma Research and Exploratory Development organization, where he was responsible for external collaborations.
Since its inception in mid-2010 Tom has also been chair of the European Biopharmaceutical Enterprises’ Task Force on Personalised Medicines.
Tom graduated in Biochemistry from King’s College, London University in 1982 and gained an MBA from the Open University, UK in 1996. Tom has lived and worked in Switzerland, Germany and California during his career with Roche and Oncotest.
